Introduction

Dr. Uttara Das MBBS, MD ( Medicine), DNB ( Nephrology), Fellow of Indian Society of Nephrology, has been working in the department of Nephrology in Nizam’s institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad since 1999 and is presently holding the post of additional professor. Nizam’s institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad is a prestigious institute established in the year 1961. It is a tertiary care, referral centre with patients coming not only from the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh but also from all the neighboring states and from across the country.

The department of Nephrology in NIMS was started in the year 1989. Over the years it has housed and shaped many eminent Nephrologists. Now the department has 8 DM seats per year and 2 units. This department is one of the largest in the country.

She did her MBBS (1993) and MD (1998) in Internal Medicine from Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh which is located in the north eastern region of India. She is a diplomate of the national board (New Delhi) for the practice of nephrology from Nizam’s institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad (2004). She was born and brought up in Tinsukia, Assam. She completed her schooling from Sarvajanin Valika Vidyalay, Tinsukia.

She was awarded fellowship of Indian Society of Nephrology in the year 2018 for her service to the society and community in clinical nephrology.
